SCU Supreme Sub-Councils

The law No. 142 of the year 1994 was issued for the constitution of three supreme Sub-councils:-
  1- The supreme council for education and students’ affairs.
  2- The supreme council for post-graduate studies and research.
  3- The supreme council for community services and environmental development.

Each one of these councils is constituted under the leadership of the Minister of Higher Education or his representative, the vice- presidents (as members), and the SCU secretary-general, these supreme councils are in aid to the SCU. It identifies the responsibilities of each council. The decisions of these councils are to be submitted to the supreme council of universities for feedback.

I- The Supreme Council for Education and Students’ Affairs:
This council is constituted under the leadership of the Minister of Higher Education or his representative, the membership of vice-presidents for education and students’ affairs, and the SCU Secretary-general.
The supreme council of universities determines the responsibilities of this council as:
  * Laying down the general strategy of study, education, student’s admission rules and services, and cultural, sports and social activities.
  * Coordinating among the supreme councils for education and students in universities.
  * Evaluating the systems of university education, examination, and students’ affairs and services.

II- The Supreme Council for Post-graduate Studies and Researches
This council is constituted under the leadership of the Minister of Higher Education or his representative, the membership of vice- presidents of post-graduate studies and research, and the SCU Secretary-general.
The SCU determines the responsibilities of this council as:
  * Planning the general system of the post-graduate studies at universities and coordinating among them.
  * Laying down the general policies regarding the compensation of the lack of academic staff in universities as well as their delegation to scientific missions.   * Setting down the procedures for organizing conferences, scientific seminars and symposia.   * The admission rules of the graduates in the post-graduate studies.
III- The Supreme Council for Community Services and Environmental Development

This council is constituted under the leadership of the Minister of Higher Education or his representative, the membership of vice- presidents of community services and environmental development, and the SCU Secretary-general.

The SCU determines the responsibilities and the duties of this council as follows:
  * Laying down the general policy ensuring the role of universities in community services and environmental development and solving the problems of productive activity.
  * Ensuring the role of the services and work places in environment and the role of the applied scientific research in solving these problems.
  * Organizing conferences and seminars in accordance with community services and environmental development.
  * Establishing and administrating the special units in universities.
